Google Gemini

Google's family of large language models, built to compete with OpenAI's GPT series and Anthropic's Claude. Gemini was designed from the ground up to be multimodal, so it natively understands and generates text, images, audio and video rather than processing them separately. The lineup comes in different tiers: heavier models for complex reasoning and lighter, faster ones for everyday tasks. You can use Gemini through the Gemini app and website, through APIs, and through Google Cloud, and it offers strong reasoning, coding skills and multilingual support. Google also weaves it across its ecosystem, including search, Workspace tools and Android.

Why it matters

Gemini provides a competitive alternative to ChatGPT and Claude, often excelling in specific tasks like code generation or multimodal understanding. Using multiple AI models gives you the best tool for each specific job rather than relying on a single provider.
