Delegation

The practice of assigning tasks, responsibilities, or decision-making authority to others (whether people, freelancers, employees, or AI systems) rather than doing everything yourself. Effective delegation involves clearly defining the task, providing necessary resources and authority, setting expectations and deadlines, and following up without micromanaging. Delegation is essential for scaling any business, your time and energy are finite, so growth requires leveraging others' capabilities. Many entrepreneurs struggle with delegation, either because they believe only they can do things correctly or because they don't know what to delegate. AI has created new delegation possibilities, allowing automated systems to handle tasks that once required a person's judgment.

Why it matters

Inability to delegate caps your income at what you personally can produce. Strategic delegation (including to AI systems) multiplies your effective capacity, allowing you to focus on high-value activities while automating or outsourcing everything else.
