Kimi

Kimi is the AI assistant from Moonshot AI, a Chinese lab, and it now runs on the K3 model released in July 2026. At 2.8 trillion parameters, K3 is the largest open-weight AI model built so far. It holds about a million tokens of text at once, which is roughly several long books in one sitting, it reads images as well as words, and it has an always-on thinking mode that works through harder questions step by step before it answers.

The earlier K2 model, from July 2025, built Kimi's name for coding and for agent-style tasks, where the AI plans several steps and uses tools on its own.
